a few months ago the exhibition Kriger (Warrior) opened at Moesgaard Museum. The reviews of the exhibition have been good, but I have not been completely satisfied with the integration and the balance of the sound. Therefore, a number of changes have been made to make the exhibition sound sharper. It is not certain that you notice it other than with your subconscious – and that is exactly how it should be.

I spring I got a call from an old friend and room mate of mine. Malene – she wanted me to record and produce some of her songs. So that is what I´m doing now 🙂 The project is at first only for herself but you never know.

Nice songs but also very nice to reconnect with the beautiful soul of hers.

Lykkelig (Happy) – Alternate Version

In 2015, composer, sound designer and guitarist Søren Bendixen released a new interpretation of Povl Dissing’s song “Lykkelig” from the iconic album “Lykkeland”. Povl Dissing was excited about this version, but what neither he nor the rest of the world knew was that another version of the track existed. A somewhat different version, which Søren Bendixen chose to scrap shortly before publication. Surprisingly, this version was even mastered. It was only during a digital cleanup that it suddenly appeared from oblivion. Now it will finally be published officially on 26 April 2024 on all digital platforms via the  company DIGIDI.
The recording involves in different ways members of Sorten Muld, for whom Søren was guitarist at the time. Ulla Bendixen sings, Martin Ottesen contributes synth bass and arrangement ideas and Henrik Munch has been responsible for mastering.
Since the release of the original version, Povl Dissing has unfortunately died, but Jonas Dissing has approved the version on behalf of the family.
Søren himself cannot quite remember why he chose to hide it away in oblivion. “I really like it, and it shows that it’s never too late to regret,” as he says.
Give it a listen and judge for yourself!

Reviews:

Jyllands Posten

6 out of 6 stars

How has Moesgaard Museum now chosen to unfold this multifaceted fable? I can say it as it is: absolutely excellent! The exhibition contains such paradoxical properties as illusion mixed with authenticity. […] In addition to the inherent magic of the objects on display, the exhibition contains great communication properties.”

Politiken

“The wow effect is really being turned up in the next department, which consists of five large chests. In the middle of it all enthrones the wooden coffin of the temple priest Padimut. […]. This matchless handful of chests alone is worth the museum ticket.”

Kristelig Dagblad

5 out of 6 stars

“A highlight of the exhibition is the new knowledge about these substances and the embalming process. A fragrance expert has even reconstructed their smells, and they can be tested at the exhibition.[…} The calm and special nature of Egyptian culture, the Moesgaard exhibition lets the visitors feel really distinguished and clear with the well-chosen objects and both beautiful and expertly clear presentation of them.”

“if I were a theater director, I would be very happy if I had Moesgaard Museum’s technical staff at my disposal when scenography had to be produced…. In recent years, Moesgaard Museum has put perspectives on China’s first emperor, the Colosseum, Pompeii and the life of the Neanderthals. There have thus been sharp and quite precise impacts in world history, which have always been communicated with a huge profit……The staging is delicate and sumptuous, and perhaps this relationship helps – despite the skeletons, skulls and weapons – to create a well-arranged clash between aesthetics and historical bloodlust and lust for power” Lars Svanholm, Jyllandsposten 13.12.2022

Customer review of “Out of Kaos”, Moesgaard Museum
(Børge Langkilde Rasmussen)
“Like everyone else, I can highly recommend the exhibition. Truly an exhibition that should not only be seen but also experienced. So many “moving” pictures that provide a fantastic view – and experience. A truly IT-technical exhibition worth seeing with the many scenarios to which “authentic” noise, shouts and speech have been added. Unfortunately, we had set aside too little time, so the rest of the equally fantastic exhibitions were only skimmed over. But we will definitely come back and study them closely as well. Thank you very much for a super super good exhibition and experience!”

“One listens to the many sounds that meet one on the way to the special exhibition “Out of chaos”. Between Rome’s eagles and Odin’s ravens – at Moesgaard Museum near Aarhus.
Birds that scream. Some of them no doubt ravens. Two of them fly across the cover of the exhibition catalogue. It is Odin’s confidants, Hugin and Munin.
More sounds, more birds. Voices. A kind of song. And a mounted warrior laughingly displaying his prey, a severed head.
You are drawn, teased, disturbed by the image and sound that you have to pass through to get further into the exhibition itself.”
